Ministry of Justice
Money claims service
Overview
I joined the project during the alpha stage. This project was goal was to replace the paper based money claim service with a digital service that also reduces the number of claims that end up in-front of a judge at court.
My first task was to run stakeholder workshops to map out the entire journey of a claim. From a claimant issuing a claim, to a defendant responding and right to the case appearing at a hearing. Based on the workshop we narrowed the initial Beta scope to a claimant issuing a claim and a defendant responding.
We introduced features where parties could opt for mediation or the defendant could make an offer to settle the claim. These would enable the parties to resolve the claim amicably rather than go to court. This met one of the principal goals of the project to reduce the number of claims heading to court unnecessarily.
My role was to produce the HTML prototypes for both the defendant and claimant services, which were tested fortnightly with 6 users. At the end of my time on the project we successfully passed our GDS assessment and the service went live.
