Your Tax Account

Overview

The purpose for Your Tax Account (YTA) was to make the management and payment of taxes accessible to everybody, not just accountants. So I made sure that user needs were central to the YTA experience. The first month was spent interviewing taxpayers and running usability testing sessions, this phase helped us to identify the customer’s needs. During production, I managed a mid-level UX designer.

I designed the homepage to provide an at-a-glance overview of the user’s tax affairs. Each tax module displayed their respective filing deadline dates, and they also alerted the user to any compliance problems.

I also designed the Self Assessment, PAYE and Corporation taxes statement views. They provided the user with a detailed view of their tax bill, payments and any penalties incurred during the tax year.

During usability testing the user feedback was overwhelming positive. With many user’s commenting that they would feel more confident managing their tax affairs using YTA.
